🎤 IELTS Speaking Part 2:

Topic: Describe someone you like to spend time with.

You should say:

  • Who this person is
  • How you know this person
  • What you usually do together
  • And explain why you enjoy spending time with this person

Sample Answer

The person I really enjoy spending time with is my best friend, Annie.

We struck up a friendship a few years ago, and we got on like a house on fire almost immediately. She’s one of the most reliable and hard-working people I know.

We usually spend time together whenever we have some free time. We might meet at home, at a café, or at a place where we can practise singing. We both enjoy singing, so it's something we naturally like doing together.

Whenever we're together, we usually sing, chat about random things, or simply hang out and enjoy each other's company. We have a lot in common, so we never run out of things to talk about. We've also gone through our fair share of ups and downs, but we always stick together and support each other.

What I value most about Annie is that I can always count on her. Whenever I'm going through a difficult time, she's there for me. I can open up to her without worrying about being judged. She always has my back, and I'd do the same for her.

That's why I genuinely enjoy spending time with her. To me, a true friend is someone who sticks by you through thick and thin, and Annie is definitely that kind of friend.

🎤 IELTS Speaking Part 3

1. Do you think it's important to spend some time alone?

Definitely. I think having some alone time helps people recharge their batteries and clear their minds after a busy day. It's also a chance to reflect on their thoughts without any distractions.

That said, I don't think people should isolate themselves too much. We still need social interaction to maintain healthy relationships.

📚 Vocabulary:

🔹 recharge one's batteries: nạp lại năng lượng

🔹 clear one's mind: thư giãn đầu óc

🔹 reflect on: suy ngẫm về

🔹 social interaction: sự tương tác xã hội

2. Do you think it is important for us to get along with different kinds of people?

Yeah, absolutely. We can't always choose who we work or study with, so being able to get along with different personalities makes life much easier.

It also helps people broaden their horizons because interacting with different people can expose us to new ideas and ways of thinking.

📚 Vocabulary:

🔹 get along with: hòa hợp với

🔹 different personalities: những tính cách khác nhau

🔹 broaden one's horizons: mở rộng tầm hiểu biết

🔹 be exposed to: được tiếp xúc với

3. What kinds of people are easy to get along with?

Personally, I find people who are easy-going and open-minded much easier to get along with. They don't get offended easily and are usually willing to meet people halfway.

I also think good listeners are great to be around because they make conversations feel natural rather than forced.

📚 Vocabulary:

🔹 easy-going: dễ tính, thoải mái

🔹 open-minded: cởi mở

🔹 meet someone halfway: cùng nhượng bộ để tìm tiếng nói chung

🔹 be great to be around: dễ chịu khi ở cùng

4. How do leaders get along with their subordinates?

I think good leaders need to strike a balance between being friendly and maintaining authority. They should listen to their employees while still setting clear expectations.

Also, showing respect and giving people credit for their work can really build trust within a team.

📚 Vocabulary:

🔹 strike a balance: tạo sự cân bằng

🔹 set clear expectations: đặt ra kỳ vọng rõ ràng

🔹 give someone credit for: ghi nhận công lao của ai

🔹 build trust: xây dựng lòng tin

5. Do people have time for themselves nowadays?

Honestly, probably less than they used to. People are constantly tied up with work, family responsibilities, and social media, so it's easy to feel like there aren't enough hours in the day.

Still, I think making time for yourself is essential. Even taking a short break can help people switch off and avoid burnout.

📚 Vocabulary:

🔹 be tied up with: bận bịu với

🔹 make time for: dành thời gian cho

🔹 switch off: thư giãn, tạm ngắt khỏi công việc

🔹 burnout: tình trạng kiệt sức vì áp lực kéo dài

6. Do you like talking with older people? Why?

Yeah, I actually do. Older people often have a wealth of life experience, so I can pick up valuable lessons simply by listening to their stories.

On top of that, conversations with them can give me a different perspective on life, especially when I'm dealing with a problem.

📚 Vocabulary:

🔹 a wealth of experience: rất nhiều kinh nghiệm

🔹 pick up: học được một cách tự nhiên

🔹 different perspective on life: góc nhìn khác về cuộc sống
